The ESS E46 3-series supercharger system is equipped with a Lysholm Twin Screw supercharger which has several advantages over the centrifugal compressors used in earlier E46 systems. It creates a higher boost-pressure at lower engine rpm, thus significantly increasing bottom and mid range torque. Lag time during shifts and on-off throttling are reduced to a minimum and the throttle response is incredible. The twin screw principle is also highly energy efficient, which contributes to the extreme power and torque output of the ESS TS Series systems. The system also utilizes a throttle body type butterfly air bypass valve to reduce SC parasitic drag and increase fuel economy during cruising conditions. The ESS Tuning E46 M3 supercharger system is based on the Vortech V3Si supercharger unit. The systems are full systems including, 20mm Certal aluminum main bracket for superior rigidity, custom molded high temperature kompressor inlet housing, cast aluminum intake manifold with integrated high capacity bypass valve system, and custom tuned ESS ECU software with removed dyno limiter and top speed governor. Fueling is provided by new, larger direct replacement Bosch Motorsport fuel injectors.

Each Velocity Stack is CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminum and tapped with 10x1.0mm and 12x1.5" ports for Awron gauge or water/methanol injection systems. Specifically designed to work with ESS superchargers, these Velocity Stacks can replace one or all eight of the original ESS units. The Dinan® dual core intercooler provides a 240% increase in face area along with an equally impressive increase in volume, substantially reducing the pressure drop to 0.8 psi, as well as providing for more efficient heat exchange and more consistent output power.
